FIFA World Cup 2018 Stadiums

A total of 12 stadiums in 11 Russian cities have been built and renovated for the FIFA World Cup.

Samara: Samara Arena (seating capacity : 45,000).

This stadium is called Samara Arena for FIFA World Cup 2018. Its original name is Cosmos Arena.Its construction started on 21 July 2014 and completed on 21 April 2018.It is going to host 4 group stage, 1 round of 16 and 1 quarterfinal match in the FIFA World Cup 2018. It costs around 18.9 billion rubles to construct this stadium.

Nizhny Novgorod: Nizhny Novgorod Stadium (seating capacity : 45,000).

This stadium is built in the historic area known as the Spit (Strelki), at the confluence of the two major rivers the Volga and the Oka. Its construction started in 2015 and completed in 2018. Same as Samara Arena it is also going to host 4 group stage, 1 round of 16 and 1 quarterfinal in the FIFA World Cup 2018. It costs around 17.9 billion rubles to construct this stadium.



Volgograd: Volgograd Arena (seating capacity : 45,000).

This stadium will also be the home ground for FC Rotor Volgograd. After the FIFA World Cup 2018 this stadium will be handed over to the FC Rotor Volgograd. Its construction started in 2015 and completed in 2018. This stadium will host total 4 group stage matches. Its construction cost is 17 billion rubles.



Ekaterinburg: Ekaterinburg Arena (seating capacity : 35,000).

This is the central stadium in Yekaterinburg, Russia. It was bulit in 1957 and renovated due to FIFA World Cup 2018. This stadium will host total 4 group stage matches. Its capacity will be reduced to 23000 after the World cup. It is the home ground for football club FC Ural Yekaterinburg.



Saransk: Mordovia Arena (seating capacity : 44,000).

This stadium construction started in 2010 and completed in 2018. it took $300 million to construct this stadium. This stadium will host 4 group stage matches. 
It is the home ground for FC Mordovia Saransk.



Rostov-on-Don: Rostov Arena (seating capacity : 45,000).

Its construction started in 2014 and completed in 2018. It is the home ground for FC Rostov. This stadium will host 4 group stage and 1 Round of 16 match. It will be the first large project built on the southern bank of the Don River, with the rest of the city lying north.



Kaliningrad: Kaliningrad Stadium (seating capacity : 35,000).

It is the home ground for FC Baltika Kaliningrad. Its construction started in 2015 and completed in 2018. It is going to host 4 group stage matches. It sconstruction cost is around 11 billion rubels. This stadium is based on the concept of the Allianz Arena, which hosted matches of the 2006 World Cup in Germany.



Kazan: Kazan Arena (seating capacity : 45,000).

Its construction started in 2010 and completed in 2013. It is the home ground for FC Rubin Kazan. It will host 4 group stage matches, 1 round of 16 and 1 quarterfinal match. Its construction cost is around $450 million. This stadium has previously hosted 2013 Summer Universiade, 2015 World Aquatics Championships,  2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.



Moscow: Spartak Stadium (seating capacity : 45,000).

This stadium is home ground for FC Spartak Moscow and Russian national football team. Its construction started in 2010 and completed on 5 Spetember 2014. Its construction cost is 14 billion rubels. It will host 4 group stage matches and 1 round of 16 match. This stadium also hosted 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.



Sochi: Fisht Stadium (seating capacity : 45,000).

This stadiums construction was completed in 2013. It took around $779 million to construct the stadium. This stadium also hosted the 2014 Winter Olympics and Paraly,pic, 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. It is going to host 4 group stage matches, 1 round of 16 and 1 quarterfinal match.




Saint Petersburg: Saint Petersburg Stadium (seating capacity : 67,000).

This stadium is home ground for FC Zenit St. Petersbourg. Its construction started in 2007 and completed in 2017. This stadium also hosted 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. In FIFA World Cup 2018 it is going to host 4 group stage match, 1 round of 16, 1 semi final and third place match. It is also going to host Euro 2020.



Moscow: Luzhniki Stadium (seating capacity : 80,000).

This is the national stadium of Russia. It was constructed in 1956 and renovated in 2017. Its renovation cost is 350 million euros. It is going to host 4 group stage matches, 1 round of 16, 1 semi final and final match. This stadium has highest capacity compared to the other stadiums for FIFA World Cup 2018.
